MHR Welcomes Minister Lynch’s Commitment to a Directorate of Mental Health

Mental Health Services are to get their own Directorate with executive and budgetary powers this autumn, Minister for Mental Health, Kathleen Lynch TD announced yesterday.
Mental Health Reform has repeatedly asked for a Directorate to be put in place as per A Vision for Change.
“We welcome the commitment by Minister Lynch TD to put in place a Directorate of Mental Health. This needs to be headed up by a Director with budgetary powers reporting directly to the CEO”, stresses Orla Barry, Director, Mental Health Reform.
“The establishment of a Directorate with single pointed, executive authority, responsibility and accountability is a welcome step towards implementation of A Vision for Change”, concluded Orla Barry.
